BACKGROUND

In September 2016, Steelman Partners was invited to participate in a landmark resort proposal for Downtown Las Vegas, centered around gaming and designed to replace the historic Las Vegas Club. The project would be the most extensive private investment in the area’s history and the first ground-up construction project since the 1980’s. The owners and developers, Greg and Derek Stevens, would require both a vision and an execution that could acknowledge the famous past, present, and future of this iconic location. On October 28, 2020, at precisely 12:01 a.m., Circa Resort & Casino officially opened its doors to the public. Despite launching during the height of the global COVID-19 pandemic, masked guests from across the country gathered to celebrate the arrival of this defining moment in Las Vegas history.

MY ROLES

This was one of my favorite projects. I helped explore numerous iterations across every aspect of the development—from branding the property to defining the identity of key spaces like the pool, sportsbook, and overall guest experience. Most collaboration took place in our office, where I contributed visually, verbally, and conceptually throughout the process. My involvement spanned the RFP response, brand strategy, architectural and interior design collaboration, guest experience mapping, written narratives and media write-ups, as well as verbal and visual presentation. Seeing this project come to life and attending the opening has been one of my favorite career highlights.
